MEDY, GLORIA AND DUBYA

As soon as the name Remedios Poblador, a supposed Malacanang official, was mentioned in the Senate wiretapping hearings…palace reporters burned the lines to get to her.

But nobody picked up the phone in her office.

In the latest web posting of the officials under the office of the president, Poblador’s position was assistant secretary for the private offices in the palace.

But according to DILG Sec. Ronaldo Puno, Poblador is now assigned in the office of the Presidential Legislative Liason Office or PLLO, the office where Puno is now OIC after former secretary Gabriel Claudio resigned.

Puno told reporters that Medy called him up today after hearing her name in the senate investigation.

He said she sounded worried and hurt.

Without saying much details Puno said that Medy told her that the members of Doble’s family were the ones that approached her for help and that it wasn’t her who pursued them out.

She supposedly claimed that the Doble family asked for her help because of her connections with some leaders of the catholic church…. She’s reportedly a relative of Cardinal Rosales.

Puno relayed Poblador’s message that she’s willing to give a statement in due time. But that they will have to wait for the President’s arrival from Australia, because of the rules set by Executive Order 464.

Of course, EO 464.

Here are the reports (filed by our Senate, Political, Palace and Economy reporters) about what happened in today’s Senate hearing. All shown in the late evening newscast of ABC 5, SENTRO (9:30pm M-F):

This (2nd) gap also includes reports about Cris Mendez, the preparations for the Erap verdict and General Renato Miranda.

SENTRO part 3

Two presidents who are known allies and whose destinies were known to mirror each other failed to meet one on one in Sydney.

US President George W Bush was supposed to host a one on one lunch with President Arroyo today, but it was cancelled at the last minute.

US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice didn’t give an official reason for the cancellation. A report even stated that “there was no scheduled one on one meet, to begin with”.

But the two Presidents were still able to talk to each other despite the “cancellation”. They had considerable informal talk time during the lunch reception that Bush hosted for all the South East Asian leaders.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo said the said conversation made a formal one on one meet between the two needless.

Arroyo and Bush were supposed to talk about climate change and us military aid.

In the said lunch reception… Bush singled out the President and the Philippines for our contribution to the war against terror.

And …Bush invited all the ASEAN leaders to visit the US soon.

An excited PGMA told reporters waiting for her at the lobby of the venue that she’s glad they were invited to Texas, because it will be her chance to visit Texas Instruments and personally thank its owners for investing in our country.

President Arroyo also met with Filipinos in Australia today. She took the opportunity to relay the good news about the county’s recent economic turnaround. She also announced to them the amnesty proclamation she signed before going to Sydney.

The President is expected to meet with other world leaders while she’s in Australia to talk about security, environment and the economy.

The APEC Leaders summit will begin tomorrow.

In the same gap, is a report about protests in Sydney against Bush and a report about Pavarotti’s wake. Plus “facial yoga”.
