ABC 5 CHRISTMAS PARTY 2006
To borrow the words delivered by our network’s bigwigs during our annual Christmas party, this year’s very memorable for each and every one of us connected with the station because we stood side by side and even clasped each others’ hands as we shared the sadness brought about by tragedy (Hazel, Arnel and Maeng) and as we embraced happiness over triumphs (PBA ratings, strong station standing, respectable ratings of programs, acclaim for some programs and the staging of Philippine Idol).
Last night (December 18) was our time to celebrate. It was time our time to take a break, enjoy each other’s company, and feel Christmassy. We dined, we mingled, we performed, we competed, we laughed, we clapped and we posed for photo-opps.
The members of the news department wore white tonight. It was a gesture of respect for our colleagues that went ahead of us and are now with our great Creator. Many of us remarked last night that just last year, they were with us celebrating the triumphs of the year that was nearing its end and the prospects of the next year. Nakaka miss kayong ka party Hazel, Arnel and Maeng!
A lot of us also agreed that if only Hazel was still alive, she could have made wonders covering Philippine Idol. She was the designated PI reporter. In fact, one of her more recent footage was taken during the PI kick off. Kayang kaya sana ni Hazel iyun, ang galing niya kasi mag live report and besides, American idol fan siya and a good singer too!
And madami din nagsasabi, Mau Marcelo reminds us of Hazel talaga!
Or maybe miss lang namin lahat si Hazel.

Speaking of Mau Marcelo, she attended the ABC 5 Xmas Party held at the Novaliches grounds of ABC.
She in fact, was the “finale performer”, singing two songs, including her victory song TRY IT ON MY OWN.
Later in the night, PI and Shall We Dance Director Rich Ilustre told me thru text that “nagkaka star quality” na talaga si Mau.
Indeed. In fact, a lot of people from the News department were talking about how “ibang iba na ang dating” ni Mau ngayon, while she was singing on stage. Mas okay! First of all, ang laki ng ipinayat ni Mau. She seemed happy and relaxed despite her comment that she’s tired when I asked how she is nowadays. Mukha na rin siyang happy dahil maski ang intriga sa kaniyang kontrata, tapos na.
Before she sang, she also announced that she already recorded TRY IT ON MY OWN. This means a MAU album will soon come out! Yipee!
Halos walang pahinga si Mau, dahil ang daming gusto makipag picture with her! What can I say, mahal na mahal ng mga tiga-singko si Mau!
BTW, Miguel and Apple also attended the party. They sang Kaleidoscope World for the employees.
Too bad the rest of the Top 12 were not on hand to join them on stage.
We missed you mga ka-IBA: Pow, Gian, Jan, Ken, Arms, Jeli, Drae, Raymond and Stef!
Mamita was there, also Lucy Torres and Dominic Ochoa, Benjie Paras too.
News anchors: Ali Sotto, John Susi, Cheri Mercado and Martin Andanar. The Venta Singko cast led by Boots Anson Roa. Etc etc etc! (Atty Dan, Sir Bob, Sir RDG… Ed Lingao… etc)
And of course, our big boss AOC.
What a night…. once again, I enjoyed partying with all of you, especially my kasamahans sa NPA (mga ka-IBA at mga kasama sa network, AS REQUESTED, the pictures are HERE)
